We had an exciting trip to the Green Building Slam put on by the NW Eco Building Guild Seattle Chapter last week. It was a lovely chance to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and see some exciting applications of sustainable design in the evening’s presentations.
Our personal favorites were Neiman Tabor’s Marian Green presentation which was about a green built town house project with the goal of hiding parking space below the living quarters and creating a larger community space above that creates an open court yard for the residents to engage with their fellow neighbors and friends with. We enjoyed the sense of community that the project inspired and were glad to see that the architectural team’s goal was achieved in the execution.
The other presentation we really enjoyed was S.A.G.E. Designs NW’s Cargo Container project where their team designed and built an exterior shed unit that the client used as an additional kitchen made out of a cargo shipping container. We enjoyed their unique presentation and their admirable use of cargo containers to create green building projects.
Thank you Northwest Eco Building Guild for an exciting evening and we can’t wait to see what projects come out next year.
